Tuolumne County is home to endless year round recreational opportunities. During winter, you can ski and snowboard at Dodge Ridge, snowmobile in the high country, or ice skate at Long Barn.

Our county is home to boating and fishing on Lake Don Pedro, New Melones Reservoir, Lake Tulloch, Cherry Lake, Lyons Lake, and smaller high country lakes which can be reached by hiking or during a pack trip into the Emigrant Wilderness. Go whitewater rafting on our world famous Class 1 – 5 rapids, or take a lazy float trip in neighboring Knights Ferry. Camping, hiking, biking, and off road vehicle opportunities are endless.

We’re also the proud home of historic Columbia State Park, the best preserved Gold Rush town in the Mother Lode region, and historic Railtown 1897 State Park in Jamestown, where you can ride the train at one of the last operating railroad roundhouses.

The Position

***HIRING INCENTIVE **

New employees hired or current employees promoted into this classification will be eligible for the following hiring incentives:

  • Hiring Incentive—paid in first paycheck: $1,000
  • Personal Leave credit in first paycheck: 40 hours
  • Upon completion of probationary period and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $1,000
  • Upon completion of 2 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $1,500
  • Upon completion of 4 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $2,500
  • Upon completion of 5 years and meets expectations on performance evaluation: $3,000

GRAND TOTAL: $9,000

The following incentive will only apply to new employees of the County of Tuolumne:

  • Up to $2,000 in moving expenses upon approval of the County Administrator.  Eligible expenses include payment for a professional moving company, rental of moving equipment such as a truck or trailer, purchase of boxes and packing materials, acquiring housing including first month’s rent and security deposit.

DEFINITION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical and support duties in the County jail; enters all pertinent information into the computerized booking system; operates and monitors communications and security equipment, logs movement throughout the facility, controls access to the facility; and performs related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from assigned Jail Sergeant. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.


CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

This is a fully competent classification in the Custody Support Technician class series responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the intake, processing, and release of inmates, video surveillance, and the operation of security door system in the County jail system. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Lead Custody Support Technician in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional direction of lower-level technicians and staff and for maintaining and reporting jail operations data.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Retention incentive based on years of service: 5 years = 2.5%, 10 years = 5%, 15 years = 10%, 20 years = 15%, and 25 years = 20%

Degree Pay (Sworn):  5% for Bachelors, 5% for Masters

Degree Pay (Non-Sworn):  2.5% for Bachelors, 2.5% for Masters

POST Certificate Pay:

  • Intermediate. = 3%
  • Advanced = 7%
  • Supervisory = 2.5%
  • Management = 2.5%

POST Dispatch Pay:

  • Intermediate = 2.5%
  • Advanced = 5%

MAX Ed/POST Cert Pay = 20%
